It all started with a simple idea to create a venue that we ran as artists in order to offer their customers and other artists the personalized service not found at most shows. We began displaying out of our homes, but as the idea took off with more artists wanting to be involved and attendance growing, it was time for a larger space.

So, 10 years ago mixed media artist and soap-maker Siouxsan E. Miller and painter Leslie Rae Jones came together and co-founded this unique show at the Pleasant Ridge Community Center. We retained the atmosphere and essence of a home show, since that was the reputation we had created, but now are more accessible to the public.

We drew from the pool of artists we knew who shared their passion, style, and attention to detail to join them in selling their work. We showcase many different mediums and styles to bring together a well balanced group. It is an event that people anticipate to find unique gifts for the holidays and themselves.

Please note this is a privately run event with all volunteer staff.

Another reason this show came about was to offer an alternative to the ever growing art mega-fairs. With our niche of focusing on the less-is-more theory, our customers have really responded positively and in turn our artists are very happy. There is a pure emphasis on the art.

I have a list here of some past exhibitors who may be in the 2008 show: Laurie Eisenhardt, Gretchen Kramp, Teresa Petersen, Tracy Gallup, Mary Pritchard, Christl Kindler, Martha Bishop, JoAnn Aquinto, just to name a few.

If you are a Michigan artist interested in having a space, the deadline is July 1, 2008. You can download the application or e-mail me with your name and address.
